Johnny Ray Bernard, Jr., MD is board certified in radiation oncology and treats all disease sites, including breast, thoracic, CNS, GI, skin, gynecologic and prostate, with a special interest in stereotactic radiation for lung, prostate, and CNS cancer. Dr. Bernard has treated a diverse cancer population with a variety of advanced radiation therapy techniques—from brachytherapy to 4D CT planning and electron therapy to radioimmunotherapy. An impressive amount of research, peer-reviewed articles in Journal of Clinical Oncology and International Journal of Radiation Oncology, lectures, honors and volunteer services, are testaments to Dr. Bernard’s standing among the leading clinicians in his field.

Prior to joining Radiation Oncology Specialists, Dr. Bernard served his country on active duty as a military Radiation Oncologist for the Army at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, the largest military medical facility in the world. He then served as Senior Medical Director of Radiation Oncology for Southern Ohio Medical Center where he developed the stereotactic program, significantly expanded the brachytherapy program, was a principle investigator for RTOG clinical trials, and served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology for Ohio University teaching medical students the art of oncology patient management.
